The Green Port Growth Programme will capitalise on the proposed Siemens investment by establishing Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire as a world class centre for renewable energy. The programme will utilise £25.7m of Regional Growth Funding to deliver a programme of activity which will assist in securing long term sustainable economic growth and employment for the region. As well as offshore wind, there are major opportunities in bio-fuels, carbon capture and storage, waste to energy, wave and tidal power generation.
The Business Support and Advice provision is aimed at assisting businesses within Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire in their development to access opportunities within the renewables sector. There will be continual support to help local businesses to recognise and embrace potential opportunities within the renewables sector for the duration of the project.
